Hailing from Wales, Catfish and the Bottlemen were founded in 2007. Cheekily tenacious, they began self-promoting by supporting friends’ bands and playing gigs in car-parks after larger concerts, by the likes of Kasabian, has finished. They added demos to Uploader and hassled the likes of 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq.
After Lamacq championed their cause on his show, the band was signed by Communion Music, to release their first album, The Balcony. Bristling with garage rock and catchy pop hooks, their first three singles, Homesick, Rango and Pacifier thrust them into the spotlight.
Influenced by the likes of The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan and The Libertines, Catfish and the Bottlemen have drawn comparisons with the Strokes and Arctic Monkeys.
Lyrically playful and with taut guitars, Catfish and the Bottlemen are relentlessly cheerful and know their way around a good tune or two.
