Sisters, Klara and Johanna Söderberg, have been making music together since they were teenagers before First Aid Kit found fame. Hailing from Sweden, they’re influenced by the likes of Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton and Gram Parsons. The result is a haunting blend of Americana that explores themes of unrequited love, failed relationships and love that was never meant to be.
Their first album, The Big Black and the Blue, produced by their father, gave them some recognition. However, it was their second, The Lion’s Roar, that brought them international acclaim. Songs such as Emmylou and In The Hearts of Men are beautifully-constructed country-folk ballads, shot through with poetic and personal lyrics.
First Aid Kit’s unique style has won them legions of fans. Among their number, you’ll find luminaries, such as Patti Smith and Paul Simon – proof, if you needed it, that the sisters have earned their stripes.
