With a voice that sounds as though it should belong to a seasoned bluesman, rather than a 26-year-old, George Ezra found his way into the charts in 2013. His first two singles, Did You Hear The Rain and Budapest, were championed by Radio 1, which was released as a free download.
Hailing from Bristol, Ezra cites his influences as Bob Dylan, Leadbelly and Woody Guthrie. Cassy O’ is a prime example, with Ezra combining clever lyrics with a catchy hook and his trademark, booming voice.
With a string of festival appearances under his belt, Ezra went on to record his second album, Staying at Tamara’s. This album saw him release his first No. 1 single, Shotgun. This sees him walking into poppier territory, laden with an anthemic chorus and his familiar, sunny approach.
With only two albums behind him, the world is Ezra’s oyster.
