With her androgynous appearance and an enduring desire to push the envelope as far as possible, Grace Jones cemented her position as a bonafide superstar. After early fame as a feted model on the Parisian catwalks, it was the move to New York that launched her music career.
Between 1976 and 2008, Jones released ten albums and 53 singles. While most people will immediately think of 80s hits, such as Slave To The Rhythm and Pull Up to the Bumper, she has a fantastic body of work behind her.
In addition to being a prolific musician, Jones has chalked up other achievements. She starred as Bond girl, May Day, in 1985’s A View to a Kill and appeared as an Egyptian vampire stripper, in the 1986 film, Vamp.
Never afraid to speak her mind, Jones has been a trailblazer for strong female icons, across the world.
