Describing Insane Clown Posse as underrated would be something of an understatement. Derided by critics, voted the worst band of all time and described as the worst rappers of all time, the odds wouldn’t appear to be stacked in the duo’s favour. However, despite the mud-slinging, Insane Clown Posse continues to convert more fans to its unique brand of horrorcore hip-hop.
Although rap and rock have always been uneasy bedfellows, the Posse have fused them to create their own psychedelic, sonic circus of nightmares. Songs, such as Chicken Huntin’ and Everyday I Die weld together crunching metal riffs, with angry, boiling rap. While there’s nothing subtle about it, the lyrics and sound chaotically communicate the band’s disenfranchisement with almost anything you care to mention.
Never afraid to defend their corner, the Posse have picked fights with the likes of Eminem and even members of their audience.
