Surrey’s finest, You Me At Six was formed in 2004 by Joe Franceschi, Max Helyer, Chris Miller, Matt Barnes and Joe Phillips (later to be replaced by Dan Flint). Whilethey’re happy to hop between genres on an album-by-album basis, the band hasrock at its core.
Their most recent album, VI, spans the gaps for diehard fans and newbies alike.Tracks such as Predictable and Straight To My Head tread the pop-metal ground that saw them launch their career. Anthemic and heavy, they’re the sound of a band that isn’t afraid to return to their roots.
However, listen to 3AM or Back Again and you’ll hear more current influences in the form of synthesisers and funky basslines. Yet, compared to the likes of Blink-182, All Time Low and Incubus, driving guitars and wasp-sting solos are never far away.
